The 2nd Ho Chi Minh River Festival – Why Are Vietnamese People So Happy?
The 2nd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival is designed to celebrate and highlight the importance of rivers and canals to the city. This year, the festival features 17 activities spread across various locations, inviting both locals and tourists to participate and immerse themselves in the cultural, historical, and recreational significance of these waterways.

The opening ceremony of the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival promises to be an extraordinary event, scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on May 31. This highly anticipated evening will feature a contemporary dance and theater art program that seamlessly integrates performance technology with a unique floating stage on the Saigon River.
The opening night also featured a fireworks display, which is a new feature of this year’s river festival. Shooting time starts at 9:30 p.m., for 15 minutes.
Western floating market on Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe canal

This space recreates the floating market in the Western region of the river. Visitors can experience buying fruit at the market amid the historic canals in Saigon. In addition, there are also traditional folk performance activities.

The 20th Southern Fruit Festival

This is one of Ho Chi Minh City’s annual tourism events, a highlight in the series of activities of the second River Festival.
Visitors to the festival can visit the fruit market gathering hundreds of first-season fruits such as Dak Lak avocado, Hoa Loc mango, Lai Thieu mangosteen, Long An watermelon, and Tra Vinh longan.
Another outstanding activity in this festival also includes experiencing a high-tech agricultural fruit garden with an area of more than 5 hectares. Visitors can pick fruit and eat it right in the garden. The garden has more than 30 tree varieties originating from countries around the world such as American figs, Indian red pomegranates, Brazilian cherries, Indonesian chocolate persimmons, Taiwanese star apples, Japanese pink grapes, and French black candy grapes.
The festival also has a cultural food street of the three regions, North – Central – South, including more than 20 booths, introducing typical dishes and drinks of the three regions.
